Connection

Too often, mental illness can be an isolating experience accompanied by profound anxiety. For those diagnosed with mental illness, talking with someone to share coping strategies and insights, as well as problems and concerns, can be an important link in the path to recovery.

NAMI Connection is a recovery support group program for adults with mental illness of any diagnosis, one that is expanding in cities throughout the country. Every group is free of charge and meets weekly for 90 minutes. All groups are led by trained individuals who are also in recovery-people who understand the challenges we face.

Family to Family

NAMI Utah’s Family to Family Course is a FREE 12 week course for families and friends of individuals who have a mental illness.

Course Topics Include:

  • Learning the signs and symptoms, emotional stages, and family member experiences
  • Schizophrenia, Major Depression and Mania, and dealing with critical periods
  • Sub types of Depression and Bipolar, Panic Disorder and OCD
  • The biology of the brain and new research
  • Problem solving workshop
  • Medication review
  • Empathy workshop- what it is like to have a brain disorder
  • Communication skills workshop
  • Self care and relative group experiences
  • Recovery
  • Advocacy

PEER to PEER :: Education Course @ NAMI Cache Valley

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, 10-session educational program for adults with mental illness who are looking to better understand their condition and journey toward recovery. Taught by a trained team of people who’ve been there, the program includes presentations, discussion and interactive exercises. Everything is confidential, and NAMI never recommends a specific medical therapy or treatment approach.
